Ellendune Community Centre – start/finish/parking

As Route One ( Wroughton Walk1 Parish West part2 ) up to:- The stile to the road is tucked away in the L hand corner. This time lurn R after stile (Salthrop) and go down the road a short way to a gateway on the R (Sign. Elcombe 1.5im). After the gate aim for another gate in fence opposite. The Murray John Tower building is prominent on the skyline in this direction. Once through this gate, again go through narrow gate opposite, turn L, keeping close to fence on L until you come to yet another gate. Turn R after gate and meander along bridleway, through several more gates until a stile and footbridge appears in hedge on the R (bridleway carries straight on). Climb over this barrier and walk towards the church (on skyline) to the L of a clump of trees on the far side of the field. Go over stiles and footbridge, aiming for a white cottage about three fields on. When you reach Lantern Cottage at Elcombe ignore footpath sign opposite, go up the road to the next stile on L adjacent to a couple of cottages (sign. Elcombe Ave 0.5m). Go straight across field, keeping fence to your R.

Near the end climb stile to footbridge close by. After this, head straight across to the R to the next footbridge. Over this, follow stream on your R until you cross it at next footbridge in hedge (can be overgrown). The track ahead is well worn to yet another footbridge in the hedge ahead. The final footbridge is ahead in between the houses of Whalley Crescent. A short R and L brings you to Elcombe Avenue. At the end turn R onto the main road (Wharf Road), continue past Perrys Lane and a small alleyway on L. Turn L into the Ellendune Shopping Centre passing the Library on the R. At the end turn R back into the Ellendune Community Centre from where you started.
