WALKING ROUTE SIX |

DISTANCE: 5.5 MILES
To get to the starting point from Wroughton:- leave by way of Wharf Road towards Wootton Bassett. About a mile up the road turn R into Mill Lane, over the M4. Continue until the lane turns R. Turn L and park up on this hard muddy track.
Climb over the stile on the L, cross this field, hedge on R, over next stile, straight on. You are now on the old Wilts & Berks canal towpath. After the next stile (about 0.5m) go up and round to the R. Keep on over a footbridge, and then a stile out into a lane. Turn L down the lane and go up and over the motorway. Bear R when this lane meets the main road. Keep to the R, on the look out for traffic. About 20 yds on a stile appears on the R. Over stile, keep to hedge on R until it comes to a gap by a pond. Go through and then keep hedge to the L. Keep going heading for motorway & railway bridge.
At the end of this field go through or over gate, turn R head for tree/stile by bridge. Continue under bridge by railway line. Over stile on R for a short way and then over another stile. Cross over the main London - Bristol main line, up and over a bank, cross stream bear L and walk along ridge overlooking lorries and factory units on R. At the end, bear R towards Anchor Butter (cream coloured building). Turn R into road. At the end of the Anchor Butter factory turn L up a lane and then R following a path right round for about a mile, in between road and railway line. The path now comes to a side road serving D.I.Y. units etc. Bear R following the path around, keeping R under the railway line. Out the other side turn L onto a track. Follow track around until it shoots off to the L. Keep straight on over a stile to the next stile. Bear R across next field to gate/stile in R hand comer. Over stile and back to start.
